VOLUNTEERING

Working the 24-hour crisis line is the most popular form of volunteer work. However, we also offer volunteer opportunities for someone looking for something more short term such as administrative tasks and other office
projects. Please email us at cycl@calyouth.org
for more details.

The training for volunteering on the CYCL consists of 40 hours of listening skills, role plays and guest speakers. Then, new volunteers are paired up with veteran counselors for “buddy training” sessions and they have the opportunity to listen to calls and hear how the counselor deals with them and then they begin to answer calls with the counselor there. It is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to improve their listening skills and help a youth or parent or family member through a difficult time.

Our next CYCL Volunteer Training Cycle has been tentatively scheduled for this summer! If you are interested in applying as a volunteer, please contact us at cylc@calyouth.org.
